Creating and Managing Promotional Schemes

Overview

Promotional schemes are a powerful tool for businesses to attract customers, increase sales, and manage pricing strategies effectively. In iVendNext, promotional schemes allow you to offer temporary discounts on products, apply special pricing rules, and create attractive offers for your customers. This article will guide you through the process of creating, configuring, and managing promotional schemes in iVendNext.

1. What is a Promotional Scheme?

A Promotional Scheme is a temporary discount or special pricing rule applied to one or more products for a limited period. It helps businesses attract more customers by offering lower prices or special deals. In iVendNext, promotional schemes are linked to Pricing Rules, which determine how the discounts or special prices are applied.

Promotional schemes can be applied to:

  • Individual Items: Discounts on specific products.

  • Item Groups: Discounts on a group of products.

  • Brands: Discounts on products under a specific brand.

  • Transactions: Discounts based on the total transaction amount.

2. Prerequisites for Creating a Promotional Scheme

Before creating a promotional scheme, ensure that the following are set up in iVendNext:

  1. Items: The products you want to include in the promotional scheme.

  2. Item Groups: Groups of products that can be included in the scheme.

  3. Customers: The customers who will be eligible for the promotional scheme.

  4. Suppliers: The suppliers associated with the products in the scheme.

3. How to Create a Promotional Scheme

Step 1: Access the Promotional Scheme List

  1. Go to Home > Selling > Items and Pricing > Promotional Scheme.

  2. Click on New to create a new promotional scheme.

Step 2: Enter Basic Details

  1. Title: Enter a name for the promotional scheme.

  2. Apply On: Select what the scheme will apply to (Item Code, Item Group, Brand, or Transaction).

  3. Item Code/Group/Brand: Based on your selection, choose the specific items, groups, or brands the scheme will apply to.

Step 3: Set Party Information

  1. Selling/Buying: Choose whether the scheme is for selling, buying, or both.

  2. Party Type: Select the applicable party (Customer, Customer Group, Territory, Sales Partner, etc.).

Step 4: Configure Price Discount Slabs

  1. Min/Max Quantity: Set the minimum and maximum quantity for the discount to apply.

  2. Min/Max Amount: Set the minimum and maximum transaction amount for the discount.

  3. Discount Type: Choose between Rate, Discount Percentage, or Discount Amount.

    • Rate: Set a new price for the item.

    • Discount Percentage: Apply a percentage discount.

    • Discount Amount: Apply a fixed discount amount.

Step 5: Save the Promotional Scheme

Once all details are entered, click Save. A new Pricing Rule will be automatically created for the promotional scheme.

4. Advanced Features of Promotional Schemes

4.1 Mixed Conditions

  • Mixed Conditions allow you to apply a promotional scheme based on the total quantity or amount of multiple items. For example, if you set a minimum quantity of 30 for two items, the scheme will apply only if the combined quantity of both items is 30.

4.2 Cumulative Discounts

  • Is Cumulative: Enable this option to apply the promotional scheme cumulatively across multiple transactions. For example, if the minimum amount is 1,500 and the maximum is 2,000, the discount will apply when the cumulative transaction amount reaches 2,000.

4.3 Apply Scheme on Other Items

  • This feature allows you to apply the discount on a different item than the one that triggered the condition. For example, if a customer buys Item A and Item B, the discount can be applied to Item C.

5. Types of Promotional Schemes

5.1 Price Discount

  • In this type of scheme, you can set discounts based on:

    • Percentage: A specific percentage discount on the item price.

    • Amount: A fixed discount amount.

    • Rate: A new flat rate for the item.

5.2 Product Discount

  • This type of scheme allows you to offer free products when customers purchase certain items. For example, "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" offers.

6. Examples of Promotional Schemes

Example 1: Mixed Conditions Scheme

  • Scenario: A customer buys 10 units of Product A and 5 units of Product B. The supplier wants to offer a 10% discount if the total quantity purchased is 15.

  • Steps:

  1. Set Apply On to Item Code.

  2. Select Product A and Product B.

  3. Enable Mixed Conditions.

  4. Set Min Quantity to 15.

  5. Set Discount Percentage to 10%.

Example 2: Apply Discount on Other Items

  • Scenario: A customer buys 30 units of Product A. The supplier wants to offer Product B at a flat rate of 12 (original price: 15).

  2. Select Product A.

  3. Set Apply Rule On Other to Product B.

  4. Set Min Quantity to 30.

  5. Set Discount Type to Rate and enter 12.

  3. Monitor Performance: Use iVendNext reports to track the effectiveness of your promotional schemes.

  4. Set Validity Periods: Always set start and end dates for promotional schemes to avoid unintended discounts.
