This article will introduce you to Inventory Dimensions in iVendNext, explain their importance, and guide you through their setup and usage.
Inventory Dimensions help you track inventory
Inventory Dimensions are attributes or parameters used to track and manage inventory in iVendNext. You can track inventory using multiple parameters such as warehouse, batch, serial number, and even custom dimensions like shelf or rack. You can track inventory in iVendNextusing three primary dimensions:
Warehouse: Tracks inventory based on the location (e.g., Store A, Store B).
Batch: Tracks inventory based on production or purchase batches (e.g., Batch #123).
Serial Number: Tracks inventory based on unique serial numbers (e.g., SN-001).
In addition to these default dimensions, iVendNext allows you to create custom Inventory Dimensions (e.g., Shelf, Rack) to meet specific business needs.
Inventory Dimensions provide several benefits for businesses:
Enhanced Inventory Tracking: Track inventory with greater precision using multiple parameters.
Improved Reporting: Generate detailed stock balance and stock ledger reports based on specific dimensions.
Better Stock Management: Manage stock levels more effectively by understanding where and how inventory is stored.
Customization: Create custom dimensions to suit unique business requirements.
To access and manage Inventory Dimensions in iVendNext, follow these steps:
Go to Home > Stock.
Under the Settings section, click on the Inventory Dimension shortcut.
You will be directed to the Inventory Dimension List View Screen.
Here, you can view existing Inventory Dimensions or create new ones.
iVendNext allows you to create custom Inventory Dimensions to track inventory based on specific parameters. For example, you can create a dimension called Shelf to track items stored on different shelves in a warehouse.
Click the Add Inventory Dimension button to open the New Inventory Dimension Creation Screen.
Fill in the required details, including the Dimension Name (e.g., Shelf).
Details Tab: Enter the dimension name and configure settings such as Enabled and Must be a Whole Number.
Applicable For Tab: Specify whether the dimension applies to all inventory documents or specific documents (e.g., Stock Entry, Material Receipt).
Click the Save button to create the new Inventory Dimension.
Once you’ve created an Inventory Dimension, you can apply it to inventory-related documents such as Stock Entry, Material Receipt, and Stock Reconciliation.
In the relevant document (e.g., Stock Entry), you will see a new field for the custom Inventory Dimension (e.g., Shelf).
Select the appropriate dimension value (e.g., Shelf A).
After selecting the Inventory Dimension, submit the document.
The system will update the stock ledger with the selected dimension.
iVendNext allows you to validate negative stock based on Inventory Dimensions. If the Validate Negative Stock checkbox is enabled for a dimension, the system will prevent transactions that result in negative stock for that dimension.
If Shelf A has 10 units of a product and you try to sell 15 units, the system will throw an error if Validate Negative Stock is enabled.
One of the key benefits of Inventory Dimensions is the ability to generate detailed reports. You can filter Stock Balance and Stock Ledger reports based on specific dimensions.
Go to Home > Stock.
Navigate to the Stock Balance or Stock Ledger report.
Use the Inventory Dimension filter to view stock levels based on specific parameters (e.g., Shelf, Batch).
